M.O.M.E.N.T. - Regular In-Person Mindfulness Meditation Program
MOMENT is a group program for individuals working together and in the presence of nature to develop regular practices of mindfulness, meditation, and open awareness of experience. Classes will be one hour long and include guided meditation for 20-30 minutes, a talk or activity related to deepening mindfulness, and time for questions.
MOMENT is led by @Blair Morris, a Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and professional coach with her company, Liminalities. The group is being hosted by @Linda Wastila of Root, Rise, Be at her lovely space in nature in between Shepherdstown and Shenandoah Junction.
No membership fees or class fees however participants are welcome to follow the ancient tradition of Dana (generosity). All donations of dana will be equally distributed to the host (Root, Rise, Be), the teacher (Blair Morris), and a charity that supports the local community.
Classes are limited to 8 so registration is required for each session. Sessions will be the 1st and 3rd Mondays each month, 12:00pm and starting November 3rd. Also note - to encourage wakefulness it is recommended to not have a full stomach when meditating so plan to eat after class if possible. If there is interest in other dates/times please let us know!
There will be a variety of chairs and meditation cushions available. If you have a yoga mat that may be helpful however not required. Please dress in layers and be prepared to be outdoors if the weather is appropriate. We also suggest you bring your own water or drink in a sealed/closable container as no food or drink is provided.
The Art of Letting It Flow: No Experience Necessary
What would it be like to be creative and not be concerned with rules, judgement, or other barriers?
Do you have beliefs around your creativity or lack thereof?
Do you have a subtle, or not-so-subtle urge to learn to play?
In this workshop we get messy and play with fluid acrylic paint to make some beauty! There is absolutely no experience necessary! This is a great workshop for those who don't think they "have any artistic talent"! We explore some of those beliefs, use techniques that are fun and abstract, learn to let go of rules and judgment, and "let it flow" while we create 2 - 8"x 8" paintings by each participant.
The workshop is led by Blair Morris, a professional coach & meditation teacher, who has been using fluid acrylic art to explore her own beliefs around creativity and perfectionism. Come join Blair and start to unlock your inner flow of creative inspiration!
Aprons and gloves will be provided however please wear clothes that can get non-removable paint on them!
This is limited to a small group of participants to ensure parking at our lovely location and for close work with the instructor.
The paintings will not be dry enough for transport after the class so arrangements will be made with the instructor for pick-up 2-3 days following.
